Scenes from Mike's ski trip and what we did all weekend.

And there's my handsome ski bum!

One of the things on Mike's checklist has been to get us restocked with hay up here at the house since we aren't sure how long he will be gone on this first trip. We waited till we were down to the last bale and had a beautiful day on Saturday so we could deconstruct the platform and clean out all of the wet old hay and get things set up for spring and summer weather (which I know will get here eventually).
Cleaning old, moldy hay out of the pallets.
Raking up the old, wet hay and taking it down to improve the soil in the orchard. Notice the three dogs who are being ever so helpful.
New hay is stacked on clean pallets and clean ground, and putting up a tarp roof with a center ridge line which will be more effective for spring and summer weather.
And finished just in time with two months worth of hay stored as Sunday's snowstorm moves in.

AeroGarden update: this garden, which is growing happy tomato plants, has become increasingly psychotic over the last week. It's programming seems to be failing with the lights going on and off irregularly and the pump also not following the schedule it should be on. This morning I called customer service where I spoke with a very pleasant woman who joked with me about my schizophrenic garden, then told me they would send out a new base today. Man...no arguments, no making me feel like I had done something wrong, just good service. I like these things better and better.
Taken at the Taos Ski Valley...

Mike wanted to show me the altitude.

I was just wondering the other day if you had any lettuce from your aero garden!
Beautiful ski photos. That's quite a ways up in the sky!
Love how "helpful" the pups were. It looks like it was warm there, I'm jealous-I'd love to see the sun shine for a whole day here.
Hey Janet - we've been eating fresh salad for about six weeks. The tomatoes are just starting to make buds though and were dropping some leaves when the base got wonky. So I harvested all the lettuce and moved the tomatoes over to that base to keep them healthy until the new base gets here.
We had sun and warmth for two days, then it started snowing and was back in the teens!
